Today our entire referee crew and Stacey took the train that is walking distance from our hotel to downtown Stockholm. The train ride in was nice and only took 15 minutes to get there.
After stopping in a few shops, we saw The Royal Palace where the King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf resides. Luckily we stumbled upon the changing of the guards in front of the royal castle. Malin said that they will not smile, but you can ask them questions and they will answer most of the time. As you can see there is a line drawn in the snow where you can not cross. I dont want to know what would happen if you did! Ilona went up to the guard and asked him how long he had to stand out there and he said 2 hours. Today it was 14 degrees outside, and we were freezing only walking around for an hour! He didnt seem to pleased that we kept taking pictures of him and looked away in all the shots! I think i would find it annoying too.
When we arrived there some of the girls needed to exchange money to the country's currency and i spotted a sign on the wall that said -Please watch your luggage! Bag thieves and pickpockets operate in this area. We didnt stay there too long and secured our belongings :)
(Magdalena and I on the train)
We walked a few blocks and got to the touristy type shops where you can get a lot of Swedish gifts. We packed into the shops looking for goodies, it was really hard to move around in there. I bought a Sweden flag and looked around for a nice winter hat. We then walked outside through the city's capital building that is right on a canal and posed for pictures with the police.

We walked down the narrow streets in the oldest part of Stockholm and found a specialty chocolate coffee shop where i got a hot white chocolate. It was sooooo good! We then went downstairs to another coffee cafe in a 700 year old dungeon where you can sit and drink and
eat desserts.

After warming up for a while we walked back towards the train station taking pictures along the way. A lot of pictures were taken on other cameras but i will get them and post them later on. There are some good ones of Stacey "trying" to push me in the canal and a bunch of group photos!
We found a statue of a man with his hands out in front of him near an old church, stacey and Radka jumped next to the statue for a photo opportunity and i put one of my gloves on his hands and posed for a picture. Then all of a sudden a bum came stumbling up from behind the statue and scared the crap out of us with his mumbling and beer in hand! He ended up in one of the shots and we ran away quickly; startled and laughing!
We finally made it back to the station at 5pm and it was packed! We had to all squeeze onto the train to get back.
Tomorrow is game day and a 8am skate!
God natt! (goodnight in Swedish)
