Today i did not have any games, but we had our IIHF skating test today. I felt that it went well, they have not posted our times yet. After our ice session we had breakfast and then i went to the outlet mall with Debbie. Its a 15 minute walk from the hotel and has a lot of shops that i have never heard of but are popular in Europe.
We went to a sporting goods store there and Debbie was looking at marked down skates, and i found these (pictured left) Bandy Skates. No they are not a goalie skate, and yes if you look at the blade thats how large they keep it. its a shorter cut boot unlike a traditional one.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandy
Bandy, sometimes unofficially named Russian hockey, is a team winter sport played on ice, in which skaters use sticks to direct a ball into the opposing team's goal. The rules of the game have many similarities to those of soccer: the game is played on a rectangle of ice the same size as a football field. Each team has eleven players, one of whom is a goalkeeper. A standard bandy match consists of two halves of 45 minutes each. The offside rule is also similar to that observed in soccer.
Apparently USA has a National Bandy team, and i never knew! Debbie said that her brother plays for the Dutch National Bandy team and that its very big here in Europe.
